Demai Greens was built on the intersection of two disciplines — the knowledge of how trees live, and the infrastructure to grow them properly. What begins as a nursery at Village Demai is the first expression of a longer vision: that Gujarat's green infrastructure deserves the best agronomic science, the deepest understanding of native species, and the honesty to say what a tree actually needs.
This is a for-profit venture with a clear standard: we will do due diligence on where our saplings go. We are not a commodity supplier. What we ask before accepting an order is simple — is there genuine constructive intent to contribute, not merely to plant for appearance?

Writer, consultant, green infrastructure advocate
Student of trees, soil, arboriculture, and food forests. Moved across telecom, entertainment, consumer research, agriculture, and sports event management before settling into writing and the study of living systems. The conviction that understanding must precede action runs through everything at Demai Greens.
The knowledge behind this nursery is documented in four field-based publications on trees, soil, food forests and custodianship. At Demai Greens: the knowledge framework, the voice, and the long-term vision.

Gaurav Patel
Agripreneur and seed production specialist
A decade of seed production through protected cultivation at Village Demai, working with leading global agricultural companies including Enza, Syngenta, and Bayer. A seasoned network of farmers across Gujarat growing under his guidance, with the intellectual property owned by the multinationals but the agronomic excellence entirely his own.
At Demai Greens: the infrastructure, the experienced team, and the agricultural rigour that turns a vision into a working nursery. The tree nursery is where deep knowledge and serious agricultural infrastructure finally meet.
The real hands at Demai.
Behind every sapling that leaves Village Demai is a team of experienced nursery hands — agriculturists and trained custodians who understand that tree care is a discipline, not labour. They work under shade net structures, on drip irrigation lines, in a nursery designed around hygiene, precision, and respect for the sapling's most critical early days. We do not name them individually. We simply say: they are the reason the roots are right before the tree leaves us.
The infrastructure at Village Demai.
The infrastructure at Demai was not assembled for a nursery. It was built for serious agriculture. The tree nursery is its latest and most purposeful expression.
01
Reverse Osmosis Water
Two RO plants with a combined capacity of 17,000 litres per hour — primarily serving seed production, with significant spare capacity now directed to the tree nursery and sapling production. Storage of 30,000 litres. The quality of water in a sapling's first weeks determines the quality of its root system.
17,000 L/hr capacity · 30,000 L storage02
Shade Net Structures
Dedicated protected growing areas providing controlled shade and airflow. Saplings hardened gradually before despatch — reducing establishment shock at the planting site significantly. Hardening is a science, not an afterthought.
Controlled environment · Hardening protocols03
Drip Irrigation
Precision drip across all nursery beds. Consistent, measured moisture to the root zone — not the surface. The opposite of the daily mug of water that satisfies the eye but not the root.
Root-zone precision · Consistent moisture04
Tissue Culture Research
A dedicated tissue culture setup where we are experimenting with propagation of fruit trees — pomegranate, papaya, and others. Early-stage research conducted at the correct pace. The vials exist. The hardening experiments are underway.
Propagation experiments · Long-term programme05
Despatch & Logistics
Clean despatch areas, proper root ball packing, own farm vehicles. A sapling that arrives at the planting site with its root ball intact and its stress minimised has already been given its best chance before a single hole is dug.
Own vehicles · Root ball integrity06
The Farmer Network
Gaurav's seasoned network of farmers, built over a decade of seed production work across Gujarat. As the nursery scales, this network becomes the backbone of a green infrastructure supply chain that extends far beyond Village Demai.
Seasoned network · Scale-ready infrastructure"Your job is not to finish the forest. Your job is to start it. To tend it for a while. Then to hand it to the next steward."
